Hi! My name is Marcin Wojtas-Krzanowski, and I’m a professional working in the video games industry for over 8 years now. I’m mostly connected with UI, UX and the narrative in games, over the years holding various positions as a Designer and a Senior Programmer.
I’m a self-taught developer focused on creating the best games and tools for games. In my everyday work I strive to deliver the highest quality possible without sacrificing creative vision. I approach problems holistically trying to identify the real causes and challenges before diving into the implementation details. I’m highly organized and passionate about my work, always looking forward to new challenges and opportunities.
During my career I’ve held multiple positions focusing on technical aspects of games, like programming and technical design. These concerned mostly user interface, user experience and quality assurance. I’ve worked on multiple AAA and AA titles, releasing on many platforms. I’m versed in interface flow and composition, input management, tutorialization & localization. I also create detailed documentation for my features.
Over the years I’ve gained experience with a lot of different game engines, programming languages and auxiliary software. I have shipped titles in both Unity and Unreal engines, as well as proprietary engines like Amazon’s Lumberyard or CD Projekt’s REDengine. I have working knowledge of C#, C/C++ programming languages as well as Python and Lua scripting languages. I’ve worked with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) and Adobe software (XD, Photoshop, InDesign).
Personally, I’m mostly interested in games’ narrative and how various elements of games come together to present a coherent story. I’m an amateur writer hoping to one day be able to release a book. As such I write a lot of stories, stubs and design docs for games, sometimes even creating playable prototypes to test these ideas. I read mostly non-fiction, always on the lookout for the glimmer of inspiration that may lead me to the next big idea.
I spend a lot of my free time playing games, especially independent titles. Usually I prefer smaller, single-player experiences focused on narrative, but I will occasionally sling spells in Magic: The Gathering or slay demon hordes in Diablo. Some of my favourite titles include “Planescape: Torment”, “God of War” (2018), “Dark Souls” and “Hades”.
When not writing or gaming, I enjoy sports very much. I like to experience nature when hiking in the mountains or break a sweat on the dancefloor. For two years now I practice science-based bodybuilding which has proven to be a great benefit to my health.
On the home page you can find a list of high-profile projects I’ve been a part of in no particular order, as well as a couple of personal ones. If you like what you see please don’t hesitate to send me a message:
